What is Metro Business Live?
Metro Business Live is a quarterly event series of engaging panel discussions focused on trending topics of importance to the Richmond business community. Leaders from Richmond’s finest businesses, organizations and institutions present and actively engage with event attendees on critical topics that affect Richmond business. Each of the events will explore topics aimed at preparing businesses both big and small for sustainability and long-term success. Guests will gain valuable insight from a panel of experts comprised of executive leaders, entrepreneurs, and/or business owners well-versed in the chosen topic. The panel discussion will be led by the Richmond Times-Dispatch’s Business Editor, Gregory Gilligan. Catered breakfast is included at each event.

What is the future of Virginia Center Commons and the area around it?

Now that the mall has been sold and Henrico County has plans to put an indoor sports arena on part of the site, what other plans are in store for the mall and surrounding property? Should the mall remain as a shopping center? Should it have a combination of offices and apartments? What happens to the area near the mall - both in Henrico and Hanover counties?

Rob Hargett, a co-founder and principal of The Rebkee Co., a Richmond-based development company that is part owner in Virginia Center Commons as well as Regency mall.
Neil Amin, chief executive officer of Shamin Hotels, the largest hotel operator in Virginia and in the Richmond region.
Adam Bonosky, an architect and planner with Dover, Kohl & Partners, the Florida-based firm that is conducting a charrette session with neighbors and others in early March on ideas for the future of Virginia Center Commons
Neil Luther, who has served as the director of Henrico's division of recreation and parks since 2011 and is overseeing the new sports arena.
